Absence

Absence composition (text mix) - text by Joy James. Cadence, effects, composition, instruments, Fiona.

Fiona was invited to contribute a composition to Songroom, a quarterly event that debuts
collaborations between writers and composers.
Songroom was produced by Karen Mathews, Tom Cone and David Pay who chose the June 2006 Songrooms theme: absence.

Fiona collaborated with Joy James, who contributed the text for this project.
The text was projected onto two walls during the performance, via a two channel video mix, composed by Fiona. Fiona
composed, arranged and played the digital instruments on absence (which is the example given above)
and during the Songroom performance, live trombone was added by Stephen Taylor and live (heavy!) drums were
played by Slickerslacker collaborator Jim Peers. Jim's kit was set up in an adjacent room, which made for an
interesting mix.
